Jauron Retained, Ralph Wilson Sells YOU Out

Hello all 1,903 NYC Bills fans,

I’m sure most of you heard by now, but Ralph Wilson decided to continue his cheap ways and instead of bringing in a strong coach to compete in the AFC East, he confirmed that Dick Jauron will be the Bills coach for 2009 along with all of his assistants. This, a mere 30 minutes before Denver fired Mike Shanahan, a Super Bowl winning coach of the Broncos who suffered a let down year. For 9 years the Bills have underachieved under 4 coaches and 3 GMs, its time to point the blame where it belongs. 6 years of NYCBBB and not once have we gotten to watch a playoff game at McFadden’s!

So Denver fired a Super Bowl winning coach and the Jets fired Mangini here in NYC who had winning seasons 2 of his 3 years. What does Ralph Wilson do? Extends a coach with 3 straight losing seasons, an 0-6 record in the AFC East this year, a coach who allowed a 5-1 team to collapse to 7-9, a coach who directly lost games by being outcoached, and a coach who has never beaten New England in the three years he’s been here! This when there are coaches like Shanahan, Marty Shottenheimer, and Bill Cowher out there for the right price, which Ralph Wilson refuses to invest in even after 9 years of losing with inept coaching!

A few years ago NYCBBB had a web page up dedicated to getting Ralph Wilson into the Hall of Fame. We created a stir when we sent emails to every single voter for the HOF giving them reasons to vote for Mr. Wilson, going so far as to get a call from the Bills PR/Media man asking us to not send any more emails. In exchange he would help us promote getting Wilson into the HOF. Of course once we agreed, the gentleman refused to return our calls, and the campaign stopped.

Looking back that effort was not worth it, for in my opinion Mr. Wilson convinced me yesterday why he does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Ralph Wilson put the nail in the coffin for this team and destroyed any trust us fans had by showing us that the almighty dollar is more important than giving the fans a winning team after 9 years of mediocrity. And beware my fellow Bills fans, we are about to witness a PR Spin Machine out of One Bills Drive of the likes we haven’t seen since Tom Donahoe tried to convince us Rob Johnson was the Bills QB of the future. Get the Pepto Bismol out, its going to be sickening to hear and listen to, but I know that we fans will know better this time.

To be clear I am thankful that Mr. Wilson has kept the Bills in OP this long, and will be a Bills fan to the day I die. However he has shown that he is out of touch with his fan base, and either needs to respect the fans who foot the bill by putting a contender on the field or sell the team to somebody who will. I’m a season ticket holder, so I get to rant, and we’ve suffered for 9 years.

Mr. Wilson, you owe us better treatment than this.

If you like my rant, then you’ll love Tony’s rant from Bills Daily, my vote for article of the year:

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

Hello all,

Remember me? I’ve been in hiding this season. Nah, actually I’ve forgone the hour commute into the city each week in favor of watching the Bills at home with my 7 month old. Hey, I need to groom the kid into being a Bills fan. It’s tough. I’m not so sure he understands or likes when daddy yells at the TV so much. Plus I’ve got a lot of Giants fan friends/neighbors/family trying to sway him at this very influential time.

Enough about me.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. Get everything you wanted? No!? Well there is always rooting for the Bills to spoil the Patriots playoffs chances!

One small catch. In order for the Pats to be knocked out, that would likely mean the Dolphins would be in. There are a few scenarios involving the Fins, Jets, and Pats. It’s too early and I’m still in a Christmas dinner coma to write it all out. I hate all three teams equally, so I’m torn.

Let me get to the point. If you want to watch the Bills try to spoil the Pats playoff chances, then come to McFadden’s/Calico Jacks this Sunday. Game’s at 1pm.

Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos

Hello all 1,907 NYC Bills Fans!

Well, looks like we’re playing for either draft choices or a .500 record at this point. The Bills found yet another way to lose by giving up a game losing fumble at the end of the game that was returned by the NJ Jets for a touchdown. It was nice to see some of the players angry about the play call after the game, wish they would have had that fire 7 weeks ago.

The Bills head out to Denver to take on the Broncos this Sunday at 4pm. If you’ve got family in town for the Holidays, what better way to celebrate than by joining your fellow NYC Bills fans at McFadden’s or Calico Jack’s! Specials start at 3pm and will conclude at the end of the game.

The NYCBBB staff got into a discussion about the snow storm yesterday. Those of us from Western New York don’t understand why people in NYC use umbrellas in the snow, whereas Matt and Kevin being from this area find it to be an effective tactic for avoiding snow. Where do you stand on the issue?

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets, Tailgate Info

Hello all 1,907 NYC Bills Fans!

Ugh….UGHHHH. The team officially fell apart last week, I have never seen a team show so little passion or fire on the field before. Heck, even the 3-13 team in Gregg Williams’ first year as coach played with a lot of heart! I really like Dick Jauron, but he just can’t seem to get this team to the next level, and the front office hasn’t done him many favors either. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how things unfold.

Again, this is Christmas time where you need to celebrate what you have, and not what you want. So enjoy the team because in two months you’ll be dying for it to be football season again!

This Sunday the Bills come here to NYC to take on the NJ Jets at 1pm. As always, specials at the bars run from noon to 5pm.

If you’re heading to the game it is with great pride we can announce that we’ll be hosting our 6th annual extravaganza in the Swamp. As always, the party will be in Lot 16, Pole C and starts as early as possible. Remember that the Jets have limited parking so you need to purchase a pre-paid pass in order to park in the stadium lots and parking is limited so get there early!

McFadden’s and Calicos have generously donated beer for us to enjoy at the tailgate and Pete, the bartender from McFadden’s has offered to make a couple batches of his famous Bloody Mary mix. Get there early for the best selection! As in the past we will be asking for a donation of $5 for the beer as a fundraiser for the expenses of the clubs website and email server.

Squish the Fish, Part 2!

Hello all 1,909 NYC Bills fans!

I realized on Sunday that I never sent the email for last week’s game, a family trip up to Rochester can distract a person like that. Obviously the Bills are in bad shape, but at 6-6 aren’t out of it just yet. The Bills take on the Miami Dolphins at 4:05pm this Sunday in Buff…err…Toronto. Should be an exciting game so come on down to McFadden’s or Calico’s to check it out with hundreds of Bills fans!

The specials will begin at 2:05 and run until the end of the game. For those of you on the outskirts of town that haven’t made it in, this a great time to come into the city, do some Christmas shopping, and catch the game. For all you Bills and Sabres fans in the dumps after the recent losses, just remember that the Holidays are a time for appreciating what you have, not what you want, so enjoy the teams that we love and don’t abandon them!

Buffalo Musicians to Perform at Mercury Lounge
As a reminder, Buffalo recording artist Roger Bryan plays the Mercury Lounge at 217 East Houston Street on Thursday, December 11th. Roger and his band are opening for the critically acclaimed indie band STAND from Dublin, Ireland. STAND adopted Buffalo as a home away from home and recorded their last LP in Buffalo at the Goo Goo Dolls studio on Delaware Avenue. The band sold out the much larger Bowery Ballroom last spring so this show to test drive new songs is sure to sell out.

I’ve been listening to their music while typing this. Should be an awesome night, and a good reason to get together with your Western New York friends.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Night at Mercury Lounge

Good Morning all 1,911 NYC Bills fans!

When I signed on to send this email my heart dropped to see our membership count end in 11. Made me think of Scott Norwood, who wore that number, then of Rian Lindell missing the 47 yard field goal wide right on Monday Night. The Bills are in trouble, but at 5-5 not out of it yet. The NJ Giants were 4-4 last year, and look where they ended up, so you never know. I’m on several Bills Backers email lists from around the country, and everybody vented frustration about the team in their emails. I’m not ready to do that just yet. I wait anxiously all off-season for the regular season, and spending it losing my mind wouldn’t be much fun.

Besides I spent all day yesterday listening to Christmas music, and that put me back in a great mood! Yes, its close enough to December 25th to start being jolly and listening to Xmas music and putting up decorations.

I have to say Monday night was a lot of fun at McFadden’s in a packed bar with NFL Films shooting for 3 quarters. I was humored to see that before the game, most were excited about the camera and lights. However once the game started, most tuned them out to focus on the game as true Bills fans just want to watch football. The footage will air TODAY at 12:30pm on the show Starting 11 on NFL Network. It will re-air Saturday at 10:30am, 9:30pm, and a couple times after that, all on NFL Network.

This Sunday the Bills travel to Kansas City to take on a pretty bad Chiefs team. Kickoff is this Sunday at 1pm, see you on 42nd and 2nd!

MNF Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills, NFL Films at McFadden’s!

Hello all 1,909 NYC Buffalo Bills fans!

Want to be on National TV?

Huge news, NFL Films will be coming to McFadden’s this Monday to film NYCBBB in action as the Bills take on the Browns on Monday Night Football! The footage will be used on NFL Network’s “Starting 11″ with reporter Michelle Beisner reporting from McFadden’s. Special thanks to former NYCBBB columnist Michelle Girardi for pushing the story at her work home of NFL Films.

The producers informed us that they will begin shooting by 6:30pm so we will need the bar packed with Bills fans before then. Not that having the bar packed 2 hours before kickoff is anything new. We know most of you will be coming from work, but please wear your Bills jerseys and shirts. Specials will run from 6pm UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME. McFadden’s will likely need to keep the crowds at a manageable size with the lighting and cameras, so please utilize Calico Jack’s if you get there too late to get into McFadden’s.

The Bills are coming off a rough three losses to all division rivals, but the Browns team is weak and the Bills will be seeking revenge for the Browns knocking the them out of the playoff race last season. Kickoff is at 8:30pm!

Speaking of rough losses, check out Phil Mann’s A View From Calico Jack’s”

These are going fast, to secure your spot email co-owner Courtney Hirsch at courthirsch@gmail.com with the subject “Sabres vs. Devils December” with your full name, email address, phone # and number of tickets (if 4 or more, must provide credit card.) Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots

Hello all 1,907 NYC Bills Fans!

Anybody else feel that sinking feeling? As Bills fans, I know you all know what I’m talking about, we’ve felt it for the last 10 years as our hopes for the playoffs get crushed at some point. Well, we’re nowhere near that point yet as the Bills are 5-3 and tied for first place halfway through the season. To put that in perspective, if 3 months ago somebody asked you how you would feel if the Bills were 5-3 and in first place, I’m sure you’d feel a heck of a lot better about our chances, so stop looking at the glass being half empty and start looking at it half full!!!

The Bills travel to New England this Sunday to take on the Brady-less Patriots, kickoff is at 1pm and there is no better place to catch the game that 42nd and 2nd at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s.

New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills, ESPN Radio, Halloween

Hello all 1,905 NYC Bills fans!

Ugh….we went to Florida to squish the fish and instead Buffalo got stampeded. However, always the optimist, let’s look at the bright side. We’re still in first place (although tied) and we really only played one quarter of bad football, and was about as bad of a quarter as you can play. Trent Edwards had his first poor game of the season but let’s face it, he’s only 25 (Happy Birthday today!) and has played in what, 17 games so far in his career? He’s going to have bad games, all players do.

The Bills can rebound this week when they take on the Brett Favre led NY Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium this Sunday at 1pm. The New Jersey Jets are 1 game behind Buffalo and New England* for the division lead, and Buffalo needs to pull this one out.

More exciting news, ESPN 1050 will be on hand at McFadden’s/Calico Jack’s this Sunday during the game doing giveaways and raffles. Want to catch the game with hundreds of your fellow fans and win some cool stuff? Be on 42nd and 2nd this Sunday!

Be sure to catch the latest news at www.BillsDaily.com.

WOW! We topped 1,900 members! What an exciting season this has been, our Buffalo Bills are 5 and 1. Just stop what you’re doing right now and say it with me….BUFFALO….BILLS…ARE….FIVE….AND….ONE. I was sitting in Calico Jack’s on Sunday after most of the bar had cleared out and just yelled out in disbelief “WE’RE FIVE AND ONE!!!”….probably scaring most of the fans left there, but what are you going to do, I was enlightened.

The 5-1 (again) Bills take their show on the road this Sunday to Miami to take on the 2-4 Dolphins who are a dangerous team, beating both the Patriots and Chargers. Kickoff is at 1pm and there’s no better place to be than McFadden’s, Calico’s, or Turtle Bay! For more info check out our website at nycbbb.com. The next three divisional games are huge!
