Buffalo Bills vs. San Diego Chargers

Hello all 1,896 Buffalo Bills Fans!

I hope everybody’s wounds from our butt-whooping in Arizona have healed over the last two weeks. However, a member sent me the following email that asks “Haven’t we been here before?” that is a piece of brilliance (BRILLIANCE I say!) and I HIGHLY recommend checking it out, especially if you want to relive the Bills teams of the 90’s:
https://nycbbb.com/features/board.shtml

The Bills have an equally demanding task ahead of this this Sunday as they take on the red hot San Diego Chargers at 1pm. The Chargers are coming off a huge win over the Patriots and will look to build that momentum in Orchard Park before heading oversees for this year’s European game.

Again, the specials run from 12-5pm and the best place to catch the game is at McFadden’s or Calico Jack’s on 42nd and 2nd. Looks like there is a street fair on 3rd Avenue between 23rd and 34th Streets this Sunday so plan accordingly. And again, please remember to respect the bar and your fellow fans this weekend.

Also, be sure to check out BuffaloBills.com, they revamped it and looks awesome.

Jon Corto
I’m sure by now you all know of the incredible story of Buffalo Bill Jon Corto who is a homeboy hero from my fellow hometown of Orchard Park. Jon actually watched one of the Bills games with you at McFadden’s last year and now we’re watching him this season! Jon has a new website where you can learn about his story and how you can help his work with the American Diabetes Association by buying a “CortoZone” t-shirt. Jon also has an ongoing blog with insider information about the Bills. Be sure and check it out!

Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals

Hello all 1,881 NYC Buffalo Bills Fans!

HUUUGE game this week! The 4-0 Buffalo Bills travel to Arizona to take on the explosive 2-2 Cardinals this Sunday at 4PM. This will be the biggest test for the Bills yet, as the Cardinals are a very formidable team and its on their turf making them the favored team. McFadden’s will be open at 11am and the seats are on a first come first serve basis for the 4PM Bills game. Calico Jack’s will be opening its doors at 2:30pm. We received word that in McFadden’s after the win against the Rams that beer was thrown and fans were crowd surfing. Now, we know there is plenty of pent up emotions in all of us as Bills fans, but please respect the bar and your fellow fans and keep the rowdiness in check. If you cross the line you will be asked to leave.

In addition, we got awesome news that over 50 ROWDY Bills fans were at Turtle Bay for the inaugural NYCBBB game up there and was a great time. We are working to have the Shout Song and Labatt Blue up there for this weekend. Just a reminder that they offer domestic beers for $2, import for $4, and 50 cent wings. You can reserve seats by calling 212-223-4224 and asking for Sean or Jess.

Also, feel free to visit our list of other reliable and Bills friendly places to watch Bills games in the area:

McFadden’s on NFL Network, 3rd Bar!

Hello all 1,828 NYC Bills fans!

What a busy week! We have so much to tell you that we couldn’t wait until tomorrow to share it all with you! The 3-0 Bills take on the 0-3 Rams in St. Louis at 4PM this Sunday.

First of all, the youtube video of McFadden’s that was on Sports Illustrated will be aired tomorrow night (Thursday) on NFL Network at 9:30pm. It will be included in a piece on the show “Starting 11” about the Buffalo Bills’ comeback over the Raiders on Sunday! That’s right, we’re going to be on National TV, so set your DVRs!

Second, the Shredd & Ragan Show on 103.3 The Edge in Buffalo will be interviewing me at 6:10pm today about the video and NYCBBB. If you want to listen, visit this website and click “Listen Now”

We will also put the interview on nycbbb.com when we receive a copy.

Third (appropriately) we are fired up to announce that NYCBBB is spreading into a 3rd bar! Due to increasing crowds, you will now be able to catch the Bills games at Turtle Bay, under the same ownership as McFadden’s, on 2nd Avenue and 52nd Street, just 10 blocks downhill from McFadden’s! Seriously, its an easy 5 minute walk. The Bills game will be the featured game on most TVs WITH SOUND. Depending on the crowd, the bar will also be willing to show other games if you want to bring non-Bills fans that don’t want to miss their games. The bar will offer $2 domestic drafts, $4 imported drafts, and 50 cent wings. In addition, they WILL be taking reservations by calling 212-223-4224 and asking for Sean or Jess. Calico’s reservations were booked within minutes and could have been filled 3 times so many people called. This bar IS dedicated to us Bills fans, so we encourage you to head there! I plan to check it out this Sunday.

We’re On CNNSI!

Hello all 1,822 NYC Buffalo Bills Fans!

Yesterday we were sent a link to an amazing video on YouTube of your reaction to the game winning kick at McFadden’s this past Sunday. It’s so awesome that we were going to send it to all of you in Thursday’s email. That is, until we learned that the video is Sports Illustrated’s Video of the Day on their website!!!

Click the following link and scroll down half way to the Sports Video of the Day (above the mocking Tom Brady video) and click the play button on the video. If you’re at work, we recommend turning down the volume (or up if you want the full experience, you’ll see).

https://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/

I get fired up every time I watch it! Please forward this to your fellow Bills fans, especially those in NYC to show them what they are missing. The Bills are 3-0 and ARE ALONE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE DIVISION FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1996!

We’re working out details to have a 3rd bar nearby show the games with sound, details to come soon. We WILL do our best to make sure everybody has a chance to watch this exciting season with their fellow Bills fans!

There is room on the bandwagon, jump on while you still can! Off to St. Louis…

Oakland Raiders at Buffalo Bills

Hello all 1,805 NYC Buffalo Bills Backers!

Alright, I’m refusing to get too excited. After all, the Bills have gone 2-0 before and have blown it, and being a Bills fan you constantly wait for the other shoe to drop. However, the Bills are 2-0 and quietly becoming a force to be reckoned with. I’m happy that the team isn’t getting much respect right now, they have a lot to prove and if they do, I’d rather scare the hell out of everybody a couple weeks from now going into three straight division games. I can’t say I’m not fired up for this weekend though!

Come on down to 42nd and 2nd to catch the best kept secret in the NFL as the Bills take on the Oakland Raiders at 1pm this Sunday. McFadden’s and Calico’s have been packed and THE place to catch the games, as you’ll see in the pictures below. Again, we are expecting big crowds this Sunday so if you want a good spot, arrive as early as you can! If the bars become over packed, we have some backup plans for the following weeks if needed to ensure ALL of you are able to comfortably watch all the Bills games with sound.

Also, for those of you at tables, there had previously been a gratuity added to all checks. Starting this week and for the remainder of the season, gratuity will only be added to tables of 6 or more. Please keep up the great work of tipping your wait staff.

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars

Hello all 1,796 NYC Bills Fans!

How great was that game? The offense was exciting, the defense was solid, the special teams were…well…special! 42nd and 2nd regained its title as Little Buffalo for the next couple months on Sunday as we had a HUGE crowd at both bars. I went around and talked to several folks after the game and everybody was fired up and had a great time!

The Bills and Marcus “Talkin’ Stroud” travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars team that traded him away this Sunday at 1pm, and he’s looking for revenge. 3 starters from the Jaguars offensive line are out this week, which has Stroud licking his chops. Can the Bills survive the 90 degree heat and go 2-0 against a solid Jaguars team? Come find out with us at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s!

We would love to hear any feedback you have from week 1. How about those Bills/NYCBBB cups???

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
This Sunday, two of our fellow Bills-faithfuls will be on the OTHER side of the bar as guest bartenders. Katy and Amanda will be raising funds for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in October. All tips they receive will support the Avon Foundation which works to advance access to care and promote Breast Cancer research. So drink up and tip generously – because a Bills win isn’t the only great cause worth pulling for.

Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills

Hello all 1,776 NYC Bills fans!

“We’re going to make the playoffs, I’m not backing down from that guarantee. I feel even stronger about it now than when I made it.”—-Donte Whitner

Here we go. Will Trent Edwards make the 2nd year leap in ability? Will the Bills be able to win without Jason Peters? Will Marcus Stroud, Kawika Mitchell and the return of Paul Posluszny shore up and create a dominant defense? Will the Bills fans in NYC be able to descend upon 42nd and 2nd in the winter to finally witness a playoff game at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s?

The Seattle Seahawks come to Orchard Park this Sunday to take on the Buffalo Bills at 1pm. We need all of you to to pray, keep your fingers crossed, meditate, sacrifice some chicken wings, do whatever you can to ensure that weather.com is right and that the remnants of Hurricane Hannah (which will hopefully not cause much damage) will be over us on Saturday, and not Sunday wreaking havoc with the satellite dishes in the NYC area. Just a reminder that unless you have a reservation at Calico Jack’s, you better get there a couple hours before kickoff if you want a seat. Again, be sure to read our FAQ if you haven’t already:

UB Bulls Football
Eric Katzman, President of the University at Buffalo Alumni Association NYC Chapter, reached out and notified us that UB will be holding several events in the city this fall. 2008 Season Info at McFadden’s and Calico’s

Hello all 1,776 NYC Buffalo Bills fans,

It’s here. The 2008 Buffalo Bills season kicks off this Sunday at 1pm in Orchard Park and NYCBBB will be celebrating its 6th season watching games on 42nd and 2nd in Manhattan. I actually have two tickets for the opener on the lower level I’m looking to unload for face value if anybody wants to head up there, just shoot me an email.

Every year around this time we like to send out an email updating folks on how Sundays go down at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s. The biggest piece of advice we can give is to GET THERE EARLY. This is especially true for the first couple games as hundreds of Bills fans descend into Midtown and many start lining up at 9am.

We’ve updated the FAQ section on our website which includes how to reserve tables, what the difference is between Calico’s and McFadden’s, what the specials are, etc. Please check it out. Oh yeah, Calico’s started accepting reservations at noon today for this week:
https://nycbbb.com/features/faqs.shtml

As I said at the start of this email, we are expecting HUGE crowds the first few weeks, so we just want to remind folks of a couple things.

1) TIPS – Please take care of your waitresses/bartenders! They’re coming in on a Sunday morning and pushing their way through hundreds of Bills fans. Last year they said tips were great, so let’s keep that going. If you have issues with ANY staff, please alert us and we will discuss with the bar/restaurant management.

2) WE’RE ALL FANS – When its crowded and somebody accidentally bumps into you, just remember that we are all Bills fans and there to have a good time. If somebody is acting inappropriately, please notify a McFadden’s/Calico’s staff member and they will address it. Again, last year we had no issues so just throwing it out there as a reminder.

3) SPECIALS – McFadden’s/Calico’s have offered the same specials as last year and have never raised prices on our members. As a result, we have no tolerance for folks abusing the specials by sneaking drinks or wings for themselves or friends. If you are caught stealing, you will be asked to leave and not permitted to return for the remainder of the season.

Kelly’s Pub
In addition, any folks in Brooklyn/Lower Manhattan or fans that want to avoid the crowds on 42nd and 2nd can head to Kelly’s Pub (kellysnyc.com) at 12 Avenue A in the East Village. The bar is co-owned by a former Buffalonian who, as a fellow fan, always has all the Bills games on with sound. They will be offering Buckets of Molson/Blue for $23 and although they don’t serve food, you can bring your own! They have also worked out a deal with Atomic Wings where you can get 10% off your order.

Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Spree

Hello all,

I’m writing to you from Washington DC and yesterday I was in the house where Abraham Lincoln died after being shot at Ford’s Theatre. Just outside the actual bedroom, hung a painting of Niagara Falls. I wonder if it was foretelling that President William McKinley would be shot and die only 20 min away from the famous landmark some 35 years later. Strange…

The Bills head to Indianapolis this weekend to take on the Colts at 8pm this Sunday night. Being the 3rd pre-season game, most of the starters are expected to play the first half. McFadden’s will have the game on in HD and will be offering the drink/wing specials from 5-10pm. They can guarantee the sound of the game until 9pm, after that they may have to turn on the DJ depending on their Sunday night crowd.

Buffalo Spree
At the PUSH event, I had the fortune of winning a year’s subscription to Western New York’s featured monthly magazine, the Buffalo Spree. On the 2 hour subway ride home that night I was excited to read a series of articles entitled “Selling Buffalo” which interviews real Buffalonians who are doing their part to better the Queen City and outlines selling points that we can all utilize here in NYC when talking about Buffalo with friends or professionally.

Its a fantastic read and I highly recommend checking out the articles and images, I would love to hear your thoughts after reading:

Just click: Archives > July/Aug 2008

Soon we will include a link where NYC Bills Backers can exclusively sign up for a new discounted annual subscription. Keep an eye out in future emails.
