Bills at Jets Tailgate Info

Hello all 1,882 NYC Bills fans!

Well, the final game of the 2010 Bills season is here, and its a locally played game here against the NJ Jets. We’ve been getting requests from you about where to tailgate. Our usual Lot 16C spot no longer exists, and the NJ Meadowlands have a new OBNOXIOUS tiered parking system, where the more you pay for your ticket, the closer the lot you get to park in. So if you’re sitting in the upper deck and your buddy got corporate seats, tailgating together is near impossible.

Luckily, the Jets fans that always tailgate in Lot 16C reached out to us and told us where they now tailgate. We reached out to Kenny “Pinto” Johnson, and he’s going to tailgate in their new spot with the “16 lb shot glass”, grille, and other tailgating stuff that folks are free to use. Here’s where the spot is:

“So, we (what remains of the 16C tailgate), are forced to park across Rt, 120 in a lot for the Izod center. We park in Lot 26, in the southern end, 26A. There is a walkway there that goes over Rt. 120 and right to the gate, so it is not too bad. The only lot for non-PSL holders (orange parking pass holders), that is closer, is Lot B. We tried it at the start of the season, but it is a very small lot and fills up within 4 hours of game time.”

If you’re not heading to the stadium, be sure to head to McFadden’s! The game starts at 1pm, specials at noon.

Trent Edwards is starting for the Jaguars this week in a must-win game for them, that should be interesting!

Also, Phil wanted me to include this article on the Junior World Hockey Championships taking place in Buffalo right now:

Calling all Bills Fans

Hello all,

Consider this like the bat signal. Only picture an image of a beat up Pinto glowing over somewhere in northern New Jersey. That’s right. It’s almost time for our annual tailgate at whatever-the-heck-they-are-calling-the-stadium-in-new-jersey-nowadays. This time, we need your help!

Has anyone been to the new stadium? We need to pick a spot, any good spot, for Kenny to set up and help us do our thing. Let us know if you have a suggestion! Once we’ve finalized a location, we’ll stake our claim. And let everyone know.

Hey, I’m not overlooking this week’s game against the Patriots. You know the deal. Same bat time, same bat channel.

It’s funny how I no longer anticipate an utter disaster each game. I think Chan’s has the team playing up to their abilities. Looking back, a few plays here and there are legitimately the difference in the season (not just a pipe dream).

All I want for Christmas is a win to break this Patriots losing streak!

Bills vs. Browns: The Legend Continues

Hello, my fellow 1,880 Bills fans.

OK, two people left the list in the past week. Who are they? We need names!

There’s a game-blackout in Western NY this weekend…but not at the World-Famous McFadden’s, home of the Equally Famous New York City Buffalo Bills Backers. Come join us this Sunday — and maybe convince some of your WNY friends to hop a JetBlue flight and come watch with us. If they’re not still stuck on the Thruway.

What better game to come for than Bills vs. Browns — the Bizzaro World version of Steelers vs. Ravens. Somehow, those teams’ low-scoring games are considered classics. Our games? Not so much. But, come on, who didn’t love last year’s 6-3 game, or the 8-0 classic from 2007? Wait…were those Bills games or Bisons games?

In a nutshell…we’re due! It would be especially sweet to deal a setback to Cleveland’s resurrected Mangenius.

In other news:

We’re mentioned in the blog “The Urban Upstater”:
http://theurbanupstater.blogspot.com/

Also, here’s a fun reminder of some of what we miss when we can’t be at the Ralph, courtesy of a show called, so help me, “World’s Dumbest Brawlers 5”. The main brawler kind of reminds me of a younger Sarah Silverman, which is better than you usually see in these brawl clips:

See you at McFadden’s.

Bills vs. Vikings this Sunday at McFadden’s!

Hello, my fellow 1,882 Bills fans!

How much do you wish the Bills and Vikings could play in the lake effect snow covering Buffalo this week? Forget the Ralph: let them play right on the i-90.

For those of you in “balmy” NYC, come check out the game at the world-famous McFadden’s, 2nd Avenue between 42nd and 43rd streets. The same specials as always apply:
https://nycbbb.com/features/specials.shtml

While you’re trolling around the NYCBBB website, make sure to check out Michael Coniaris’ photos from the Steelers’ game:

And, if you can stomach it, you can check out my column on that same game:
https://nycbbb.com/columns/112910.shtml

Many of you have probably heard the “FitzMagic” song making the rounds. Did you know it got a shout out from Sports Illustrated’s “Extra Mustard?” You’ll have to scroll down a little to find it, if you can get past the Tiger Woods story:
https://www.si.com/more-sports/2010/12/01/claudia-galanti-tiger-woods-law-and-order

Sure, Brett Favre’s more famous, but when’s the last time he had his own song? It seems that a re-work of the Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” in his honor is long overdue. Or maybe Def Leppard’s “Photograph.”

While we’re at it, here’s an Esquire interview with one of the Buffalo Jills:

Enjoy the weekend, everyone. See you at McFadden’s!

Steelers at Bills

Hello all 1,885 NYC Bills fans!

We hope you all enjoyed your turkeys and days off from work yesterday. If you can believe it, the Bills have actually been FUN to watch lately, despite their 2-8 record. They lost some of those games by small margins so could easily be 5-5 right now and still in the playoff hunt. What’s done is done by the good news is it looks like the Bills officially bottomed out and are on an upswing as an organization. Its true that they’ve beaten 2 bad teams, but Ryan Fitzpatrick (or Fitzmagic as some are calling him) is on pace for 30+ touchdown passes. Steve Johnson, a guy I personally always thought had talent and wanted to see get more playing time, is receiving national attention for his 9 TD grabs so far. Lee Evans who? And Then you’ve got Fred Jackson again proving he’s a starter in this league. And don’t forget DT Kyle Williams who is being ranked among the top 5 at his position right now.

Being that the Holidays are here, I’m going to refer to this group of overachievers who weren’t top draft picks as being from The Land of Misfit Football Players. They’re all overachievers who nobody else in the league thought could play yet are starting to attract attention.

How can you not root for these guys? They embody what Buffalo and Western NY is all about and are a hell of a lot more fun to watch than any Bills team the last decade.

Come on down to McFadden’s and Calico’s this Sunday at 1pm to catch these Misfits in action against a VERY tough Steelers time. We’ll get to see how far our team has really come, and apparently those there the last two weeks have been partying it up like we’ve won a Super Bowl.

Why So Serious?

Bills at Benglas

Hello all 1,884 NYC Bills fans!

I write this listening to Christmas music, its never to early to get into the holiday spirit! The Bills FINALLY got their first win of the season last week edging out the Lions by 2 points, so won’t go winless after all. If that isn’t cause for excitement, this tidbit about our next opponent should:
The Bengals have not beaten the Bills since the 1988 AFC Championship Game. The Icky Shuffle anyone? That’s how long its been.

The Bills head to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals at 1pm. Buffalo will go up against the most dramatic duo of wide receivers in Chad Ocho-Cinco and former Bill Terrell Owens. Thanks to the Bills’ win on Sunday, the Bengals currently own the longest losing streak in the NFL. Yes, the Bills could actually be…2-8 by Sunday afternoon. There’s no better place to catch the game than on 42nd & 2nd. As you’ll see from the pics below, you truly are the best fans in the NFL packing McFadden’s to root for what was then an 0-8 team! The support has been great, lets keep it up this Sunday!

PUSH Event
Thanks to the 350 people who attended last weekend’s PUSH Buffalo event in Times Square, another huge success! Would love any feedback on the event if you have it.

Oh…and for those who didn’t hear…Buffalo ranked #2 on a POSITIVE list for once!

Bills vs. Bears

Hello NYC Bills fans,

The Bills take on the Bears this Sunday at 1pm. The game will be played in Toronto. What do you think, another overtime letdown? It must be from the utter despair, but I’ve actually been happy to see the team at least compete. Also, I don’t remember what radio station I was listening to (maybe Colin Cowherd) but they were commenting on how the Bills players don’t give up. They were comparing the Bills to other teams, like Dallas, and the consensus was that the Bills players have heart. At least they have heart.

I’m sure you already know that the Bills picked up Shawne Merriman. At the very least it shows that the front office knows that linebacker is a major weakness. He may be ready in time for next week’s game against the Lions.

Remember there are changes with the bars (we’ve consolidated into McFadden’s):

PUSH Buffalo Takes Manhattan 4 – Nov 13!

Hello all 1,900+ Bills & Sabres Fans!

We’ve mentioned it briefly in a couple emails, but wanted to send out a dedicated email to promote the 4th Annual Buffalo Takes Manhattan Party in Times Square. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, November 13th, at 7:30pm again on the 33rd Floor of the SEIU Building. Tickets are $25 online and $30 at the door with proceeds going to PUSH Buffalo, a non-profit organization that helps rebuild houses in Buffalo to make affordable housing a reality in the Queen City. In case you missed it, they were featured in an episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover – Home Edition in Buffalo last year and are a top notch organization. We’ve worked closely with them for the last 3 years and are just great people who love Western NY, proven in their work there.

If you haven’t been to the event in the past (which I know a ton of you go each year) its an AWESOME time, everything is Buffalo from the La Nova Pizza to the cash bar featuring Labatt Blue & Flying Bison beer and DJs/Bands from the Queen City. They’ll be kicking off the event with two can’t miss videos on the rebirth of Buffalo, some stunning positive developments have taken place the last year.

This year’s Honoree and special guest is Olympic Gold Medal winning bobsledder Steve Mesler! Steve, a Buffalo native, will be at the event and even auctioning off a date with himself! LADIES – just Google his image, I’m sure you’ll want to be there to bid on that! Don’t worry guys, there will be a ton of stuff to bid on which always includes a ton of cool things. Washington DC does their annual Buffalo Nite, this is NYC’s own version of that.

If anybody has an awesome giveaways to donate to the silent auction, let me know.

Its a great time, for a great cause, and a chance to give back to the city of Buffalo which I’m sure we can all agree has made us all who we are. Buy tickets now at:
http://www.pushbuffalo.org/index.html?id=20090831102915

This year’s theme is tailgating, so show up in your Bills/Sabres tailgating gear and receive a free drink!

See you there!

GO BUFFALO!

Bar Changes for Bills at Chiefs

Hello all 1,882 NYC Bills fans!

First off, last week’s email was actually sent by Phil, I did not all of a sudden start speaking of myself in third person.

With that out of the way, what a game that was last week! At this point, the season has come down to grooming the players for 2011 and finding out who belongs on this team going forward. As Matt Soreco tweeted last week, the Bills need to stand behind their words that they’re changing a losing mentality into a winning one by ridding themselves of players who can’t cut it. I’m talking about you Aaron Maybin, potentially the most pathetic first round choice in Bills history who can’t even dress for a win-less team. I’m not sold on Fitzpatrick being the starter in 2011 either, his stats are solid but let’s see him win some games and show consistency over the rest of the season before anointing him. I’d rather see a guy named Luck at One Bills Drive.

The Bills take on the Chiefs this Sunday at 1pm, and there’s no better place to catch the game than on 42nd & 2nd…with some changes.

Just like with the NFL, there’s a business side to the NYCBBB. With an 0-6 season, we have to adjust to ensure that McFadden’s/Calico’s are turning a profit and want to make sure that our relationship is strong with the bars for when the Bills finally turn this ship around. Therefore effective immediately:

– McFadden’s will accept reservations for the dining area starting every Tuesday at noon. Anybody with a reservation at Calico’s this weekend has had that reservation moved over to McFadden’s, so you’re all set there. Other than that, everything remains the same at McFadden’s including the specials and first-come first-serve seating at the bar and back bar.

– Calico’s will be showing multiple NFL games, and will have the Bills game with sound on when possible. The all-you-can-drink/wing specials will NOT be available, however the bar will offer $3 pints of Bud Lite and $4 pints of Blue and wings will be available for purchase.

We’re basically consolidating us Bills fans into McFadden’s while we hunker down through the storm and opening up Calicos to all NFL fans. Its great if you have a bunch of friends that want to see other games but also want to hang out nearby.

McFadden’s & Calico’s have been GREAT partners for almost a decade, please continue to patronize them through this challenging season.

GO BILLS, GO SABRES!!!

Watch Bills vs. Ravens with NYCBBB

Hello, all 1,911 NYC-area Bills fans (and those of you living other places, too).

I hope everyone enjoyed the bye week.

More important, let’s hope the Bills took advantage of the bye week to strategize for what guarantees to be a tough game against the Ravens (as opposed to all of those easy games we’ve had to this point), with conquering hero Aaron Maybin returning to his native Baltimore. Imagine, those poor saps in Baltimore had to settle for Haloti Ngata and Michael Oher after our team drafted Donte Whitner and Maybin. Wonder whatever happened to Ngata and Oher?

Seriously, it’ll be fun to have everyone back together at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s. You probably know the drill: get to McFadden’s early if you want a table or a prime spot at the bar. Call Calico Jack’s at 212.557.4300 for a table reservation. All of the regular specials will be available, as detailed here:
https://nycbbb.com/features/specials.shtml

Meanwhile, Matt Kabel wants to make sure everyone knows about PUSH Buffalo’s upcoming event, “Buffalo Takes Manhattan 4 – A Tailgate Party in Times Square,” taking place on Saturday, November 13. This event benefits Buffalo’s neighborhoods and will include all-star DJs and pizza from Buffalo’s own La Nova.

Also, are you rooting for the Yankees? This guy argues that no Buffalonian should be a Yankees fan. I didn’t have the patience to read the whole thing, but if you’re willing to wade through it, enjoy:

See you on Sunday!
