16C is the Place to Be

Hello all,

I stole “16C is the place to be” from a snot-green t-shirt I saw on a Jets fan once. The same guy had a bewildered look on his face when he saw his tailgating spot over-run by a swarm of red, white, and blue.

This Sunday, lot 16C is the place to be once again for Bills fans. I might have given some of you faithful (including Kenny and Captain Buffalo) a minor heart attack in last week’s e-mail. Based on the replies to my e-mail, a lot of Bills fans are gathering up there again.

The trick is finding a way there. As you may or may not know, in order to park in the lot, you need a parking pass. This is due to construction of the new stadium. Parking passes are issued to season ticket holders only. They are separate than the game ticket. I’ve seen them on sale on e-bay or even included with tickets for sale. Given the Jets season so far, I won’t be surprised if you can tickets and parking passes for a bargain.

Remember the game is at 4:00. Some are getting there as early as 8am or even earlier!

Kevin will put together some more details and plans later this week.

Some have told me that if you get there early enough, that you don’t need the pass. Since I can’t confirm first hand, I’m playing it safe and not passing this on as a fact. If you know this to be 100% true, please let us know.

See you Sunday,

Matt Soreco

Buffalo Bills vs. Willis

Hello all,

I’m not going to mention a word of the Monday night disaster. I guess I just did. My bad.

Time to look forward. Come out Sunday and watch the Bills battle Willis McGahee and the Ravens at 1pm.

Personally I don’t know what the whole controversy is with Willis. Supposedly he took some parting shots at the Bills. I will emphatically state for the record that he could not have said those things. Or say that the Bills should move to Toronto. I say this because even if he did, no one would have been able to understand what came out of his dumb marble mouth. Take that WILLIS! Oh, you didn’t think I was going let those comments slide, did you?!?! Hopefully the Bills D will be fired up enough to pop him in the mouth all day Sunday.

Trent Edwards got the nod this week. Losman said he was ready to play. Another QB controversy anyone?

Hey is anyone going to the Jets game next week? We’re at a loss on how to plan for a tailgate given the parking situation there. If enough are in, we’ll try to figure something out.

See you Sunday,

Buffalo Bills vs. Dallas Cowboys

Hello all,

YES! We will be showing the Bills vs. Cowboys game this upcoming Monday night. The drink/wing special will begin at 6:30 PM, and will last through the end of the game.

How do you like the rookie combination on offense? Lynch and Edwards look sharp! Lets see what they can do against the 4-0 Cowboys.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets

Hello 1,721 of you,

Man do I hate the Pats. I hate the Fins equally. And for the trifecta, I despise the Jets. I’m so full of hate! And I LOVE it!

Hey Wilfork was fined only $12,500 for the hit on Losman. More reason to be angry. He seems sorry, but apparently it’s not his first time:
http://espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=3039533

I hope this team can get it together this week. Due to all the injuries, there has been too much activity on the roster for me to keep up with. BillsDaily sorts it out for ya:
http://www.billsdaily.com/

I’ll be up at the game this week. Many have been asking… I will be at or near Kenny’s tailgate. Apparently we weren’t clear, but we won’t have a keg this year. There should be some familiar faces around there. I plan on getting there early. Lots open at 8am.

Here is info on how to find Kenny’s spot:

Phil thought of something good. Besides Dan Schulman’s awesome mini documentary on us (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFyjH9skeAo), we’re videoless is the YouTube generation. If you have any videos from the bars, lets get them posted!

Oh and getting back to hating teams… I hate the Red Sox too.

I like turtles though, like this kid:

I though this week’s e-mail would be short. Oh well.

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

Hello all 1,717 of you,

Tough first two weeks, eh? You’d think we’d be immune to the punishment, but somehow I feel like I’ve been kicked in the stomach every Sunday. The Bills rebound may be tough this week on the road against the Pats. This team needs to wake up! At least rookies Lynch and Poz are fun to watch. Be there this Sunday at 1.

That guy taking pictures around the bars isn’t a Belichick spy! It’s our own Michael Coniaris. Check out his pictures from last week:

If you have any pictures you’d like to see on nycbbb.com, just send them my way.

JetBlue
JetBlue will be at the bars on Sunday, where you can enter to win a trip home to Buffalo for when the Bills take on the Miami Dolphins, December 9, at Ralph Wilson Stadium! I believe they’ll have some other nice giveaways on hand too.

Pittsburgh Steelers and Everett Update

Hello all,

There was some encouraging news regarding Kevin Everett’s injury and recovery. Doctors have reported that Kevin was able to voluntarily move his legs and arms. This progress this early on in his recovery is said to be a good indication that there is a good chance for him to walk again. Lets keep Kevin in our thoughts and prayers.

Remember, on Sunday we will have a get well banner to sign, which we’ll send over to him.

The Bills are taking on the Steelers this Sunday at 1pm. You all know the drill. I’m excited about Poz and Lynch! One day the Bills will get everything together. One day…

Kevin Everett

Fellow NYC Bills Backers,

By now we’re sure that most of you have heard about the severity of the injury to Bills TE Kevin Everett. After being moved off the field by ambulance, Everett was taken to Millard Fillmore Hospital where he underwent spinal surgery late Sunday night. Yesterday, the Bills and the hospital’s medical team announced that although the surgery was successful, the chances that Everett would fully recover were “bleak” and that he may never walk again.

Everett is currently under sedation breathing through a respirator in the ICU. Until the swelling goes down, he is still in grave danger of blood clots and infection.

Some of you have written to us expressing that Sunday’s loss doesn’t mean much anymore, and that Kevin Everett’s health is at the front of your minds. Even though we don’t know him personally, I think most of us feel as if he is one of us, and this injury drives home as if he were a friend. That’s what’s so special about the so called Small Market Teams like the Bills, the cities and their teams are like one big family. Kevin isn’t simply a player on a sports team in Buffalo, he’s one of us. I have confidence that Buffalo will show its true colors as the City of Good Neighbors and give Kevin all the support they can, not just for the next few weeks, but for the rest of his life.

As fans, I know there’s not much we can do. The best thing we can do now is hope and pray for Kevin. On Sunday, we are working with McFadden’s to create a large Get Well banner that all of you can sign and send your best wishes to him on. Member Melissa Thomas wrote in and volunteered to oversee this effort. Even if you can’t stay and watch the game, feel free to come by and sign the banner and show your support. The Bills will be providing us with a location to send it.

If anybody has any other ideas, we’re all ears. Until then, be sure to keep Kevin in your thoughts and prayers.

Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos

Hello 1,695 of you,

Are you ready for some football!?!?

I am too! I can’t believe this is our sixth year. Time flies. The Bills have got to be one of the youngest teams in the league. Or maybe I’m getting old (I’m starting to sound like my father). Either way, it should be an exciting season this year. There are a lot more questions than answers, that’s for sure. But you never know who’ll step up and who’ll break out.

For all you regulars, you know the drill. Same time, same place, same deal.

First game is this Sunday at 1pm against the Broncos in Buffalo.

For you newbies… Here is the info you need:

Both bars will open at 10:30 this year.

McFadden’s is 21 and over only. If you have young ones with you, or if you’re under 21, you’re more than welcome to watch the game in Calico Jack’s.

Calico Jacks will take reservations starting on noon on Tuesdays. You can reserve up to 8 seats by calling 212-557-4300. Otherwise, it’s first come first serve for both bars. If you reserve seats at Calico Jacks, you MUST be there by 12:40 or you’ll lose your seats. No exceptions.

Drink & Wing Special Info:
All specials are from one (1) hour before the game until the end of the game.
$30: All the draft beer (including Labatt Blue/Molson Canadian) you can drink and wings you can eat.
$20: All the Bud/Bud Lite draft you can drink and wings you can eat.
$15: All the POP you can drink and wings you can eat.
$1 off all mixed drinks.

Enjoy the Bills while you can. Read more in Phil Mann’s Latest “A View from Calico Jack’s”:

McFadden’s Showing Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons Game

Hello all you NYC Buffalo Bills Fans!

Many of you have been asking us whether McFadden’s will be showing the 10am Saturday replay of tomorrow night’s preseason matchup between our Buffalo Bills and the Atlanta (woof woof) Falcons.

The answer is YES! McFadden’s will be opening early at 9:30am to accommodate us! Bar is charging $20 for unlimited draft (import and domestic) during the game, or just mention “Go Bills!” to the bartender (Joe) and you get $3 bottles/drafts/house liquor during the game.

So this Saturday at 10am, McFadden’s at 42nd and 2nd, mention “Go Bills” to Joe the bartender and catch Marshawn Lynch starting his first Bills game! If we have good attendance for this, we will work with McFadden’s to show the other games.

Just had lunch at McFadden’s today, wing sauce is as good as ever! And guys – nice new bathrooms!

Buffalo Bills 2007 Season

Hello all 1,689 NYC Buffalo Bills fans!

What’s that noise? Ahh….it’s the sound of helmets and pads clashing on the gridiron at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. The Buffalo Bills have been in training camp for just over a week, which means the start of the 2007 season is upon us. Will JP Losman have his breakout year? Will Marshawn Lynch be the next coming of Thurman Thomas? Will the offensive line be tops in the league after the team dropped over $70 million on free agents? Will the defense be able to stop the run?

In the coming weeks, the answers to these questions and more will be answered, and the best place to discover these answers is with NYCBBB! We kick off our 6th year on September 9th, returning to McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s on 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. We’ll be keeping things basically identical to last year at the bars which we feel worked out well with McFadden’s being the rowdier bar, and Calicos being as much fun but more laid back. Both bars will be offering the same special as last year which can be found here:
https://nycbbb.com/features/specials.shtml

We will let you know if any preseason games will be shown. Also, please forward this email on to any other Bills fans you know in the Tri-State region. We will also send out what other Bills Backers there are in the region in case you can’t always make it into Manhattan.

Thanks to those of you that have recently emailed us asking if we were still doing NYCBBB this year, those of us that run the group have been swamped and haven’t had a chance to send out as much off-season correspondence as in the past. I guess our age has caught up to some of us and family/homes/careers don’t allow us be as involved as we were in the past. But don’t worry, we’ll keep marching NYCBBB on until hell freezes over, or Michael Vick becomes PETA’s Man of the Year! And yes, those emails make us feel terrible! Ha! I’ll actually be moving up to Fishkill, NY in November, so any of you that live up there should shoot me an email and we’ll take the train in together on Sundays!

So for all you fellow insane Bills fans out there in NYC, enjoy your last few weeks of summer, it’s going to be one hell of a fall!!! We’ll have more details as we get closer to kickoff!

Thurman Thomas
Make sure you turn on NFL Network at 6pm this Saturday to catch Thurman Thomas being enshrined into the Hall of Fame. Marv Levy will also be speaking on Thomas’ behalf.

Bills Daily
Be sure to check out www.billsdaily.com for all the latest Bills news.

Hope everybody is enjoying their summer, see you soon!
