Buffalo Bills Sign 3 Free Agents

Hello NYC Buffalo Bills Fans!

The Bills made a HUGE splash on the first day of free agency, and when I say huge, I mean close to 1,000 lbs total!

In the middle of the night, the Bills kicked off the NFL Free Agency period with the signing of journeyman Offensive Tackle Jason Whittle. Whittle, signed for 1 season, will provide good depth as he has played all 5 positions on the offensive line.

The Bills made their biggest signing of the day (and likely of free agency) around 7pm when they inked former Washington Redskin left guard Derrick Dockery to a 7 year $49 million deal. Dockery was considered the 3rd best offensive lineman available according to ESPN, and potentially the 2nd best run blocker. Playing next to future All Pro Jason Peters, the 26 year old will make the left side of the Bills offensive line one of the NFL’s best for the next half of a decade! Unlike previous O-line free agent signings (Bennie Anderson, Tutan Reyes) Dockery’s former team hated to see him go. Plus, we get to call him Dock!

The final signing of the night was former Raiders 6’8″ 345 lb offensive tackle Langston Walker. Walker, 27, who started all 16 games at right tackle for the Raiders last year signed a 5 year $25 million deal. Walker is expected to challenge for the starting right tackle job this year, which is quite a bit of money for the underachieving former 2nd round pick. But who knows, you gotta have faith in Marv.

For the first time since Levy was walking the sidelines, the Bills finally took upgrading the offensive line seriously! Adam Shefter of NFL Network said the Bills overall made the best free agency moves of the day.

Nate Clements signed the richest contract ever for a defensive player, 8 years $80 million, with the 49ers. London Fletcher signed a 5 year deal with the Washington Redskins.

Finally, Willis McGahee and Takeo Spikes are on the trading block, and it looks like Denver has interest in acquiring McGahee, potentially for a 3rd round pick in this year’s draft.

We’ll keep you up to date on the all off season happenings!

Hope all is well with everybody, can’t wait to see you at the Draft Party!

Go Bills, Go Sabres!
