Important Note: Issues at the Bars Yesterday

Hello all 1,962 NYC Bills fans!

First off, who else is still shaking after that game? I watched with 100+ fans out here in LA and the place was rocking, so couldn’t imagine what it was like on 42nd and 2nd. Well, I kind of can, here’s the reaction to the game winning kick in our “tamer” bar – Calico Jack’s taken by member Adam Beilman:

Alright, now onto the serious stuff. McFadden’s & Calico’s have been great partners over the years, they’ve took us in when we’ve sucked. I know everybody is jazzed about finally having a good team, but we need to do a better job of controlling our actions and celebrations.

First off, throwing beer has to stop. A TV was hit with beer an destroyed. Going forward, anybody throwing beer will be thrown out. We’ve made that decision, not McFadden’s. Second, we all like to drink a lot, but if you’re overly disruptive and not listening to the McFadden’s/Calico’s staff, you’ll be tossed.

I know 95% of us are there to have a good time, so this is for the handful of fans that can ruin it for the rest. If you see somebody doing any of the above or ruining the good time, please let either me or one of the staff know. If we can’t get ourselves under better control, we’re going to move away from the all-you-can-drink specials, which nobody wants to do.

As those who were there yesterday can attest to, our wild celebration drew the attention of the FDNY & NYPD who had to come in and shut the party down. As a fan, I have to say that just adds to the legend of NYCBBB. Everybody I tell that to replies “awesome.” However, we’re going to work with McFadden’s/Calico’s to monitor the capacity of the bars going forward. So if you want to get into the bars, please come early.

That said, enjoy your week, I know mine is going to be a hell of lot better after seeing Billy boy melt down and Marsha throw 4 interceptions.

We’ll be in touch later in the week, GO BILLS!!!

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills

Hello all 1,955 NYC Bills Fans,

First off, if you weren’t at McFadden’s last week, check out this video I shot of the bar’s reaction to the game winning interception on the last play. My clothes are still soaked with the beer that landed on me during this:

I’m still speechless about the come from behind win, so need to move onto this week where we will really see how good the team is. Red hot Marsha Brady and his Patriots head to Orchard Park this Sunday at 1pm to take on our red hot Buffalo Bills. Fred Jackson is leading the league in rushing yards and the Amish Rifle is tied for the league lead in touchdown passes with two other signal callers, including Marsha. Its an exciting time to be a Bills fan, come on down to 42nd and 2nd and join your fellow NYC Bills fans for what will likely be one hell of a football game! Sad to say I won’t be at the bars this week, I’m in California for work providing free single malt scotch to folks out here, so will likely be watching from somewhere in LA. If we lose, you can blame it on me for changing the routine.

Buffalo Art Event in NYC
PUSH Buffalo reached out to us this week to notify us of a great Buffalo related event occurring here in NYC next month. There will be an art auction featuring artists from Buffalo with proceeds going to two Buffalo charities, including PUSH. The event will be held on October 11th at Charles Bank Gallery (founded by a Buffalonian!) located at 196 Bowery. Silent auction begins at 6pm, live auction at 8pm. If you love art, love Buffalo, or love helping charities, then this is the event for you. I totally plan on attending. Please help support this effort, more details can be found on their website:

Oakland Raiders at Buffalo Bills

Hello all 1,945 NYC Bills Fans!

Welcome to the 50+ new signups! How awesome was that last week? Its been a long time since I watched a game at McFadden’s, its been an even longer time since I watched a BLOWOUT at the bar! Man, I forgot how much fun that can be and had such a great time with everybody watching the Amish Rifle Ryan Fitzpatrick toss 4 touchdown passes. It was wonderful meeting a lot of new faces and fellow fans. I sit at the table in the restaurant portion closest to the bathrooms, so please come up or over and say hi this Sunday, would love to meet more of you. See below for some cool things happening this week at the bars.

The Bills take on the Raiders this Sunday at 1pm which also happens to be the home opener in Buffalo. There were fans in line as early as 8:30am on Sunday waiting for seats, and over 80 of you in line when the doors opened at 10:30am. Its a bit easier to get seats over at Calico Jacks if you don’t feel like getting there at the crack of dawn.

Phil’s Weekly Column is Back:

We have some cool things going on this Sunday:

1) The guys over at www.deargodwhyussports.com will be recording their weekly pre-game CrapTastiCast podcast at McFadden’s. The blog got some attention recently for calling out WGR55 in Buffalo for being overly negative, which many on-air personalities had to actually respond to. You can hear past podcasts herehttp://www.deargodwhyussports.com/dgwu-craptasticast-archives.html.

2) Oh, and NFL Films might stop by to get some footage of you as they’re hitting sports bars in the city this Sunday.

See you all on Sunday!

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

Hello all 1,918 NYC Bills Fans!

We’ve arrived. Labor Day is past, the weather is cooler, and the sound of cleats hitting the turf is here. This Sunday at 1pm, our Buffalo Bills kick off the 2011 season against the Kansas City Chiefs. If you haven’t seen already this morning, the Wall Street Journal just ranked the Buffalo Bills as the best looking team in the NFL, and the Chiefs as the ugliest. Has there ever been a better cause for rivalry?

Come on down to 42nd and 2nd and join your fellow New York City Buffalo Bills Backers as we begin our 10th year of existence and pack two midtown Manhattan bars with Bills fans and the game/sound on all TVs! On a personal note, I haven’t been able to catch many games with you the last 2 years due to family commitments on Sundays, and haven’t watched a game in McFadden’s itself in quite some time preferring the more family friendly atmosphere of Calico’s. All that changes this weekend, I’m returning with a vengeance this season and am ridiculously fired up to watch us wipe the floor with the Chiefs with all of you at McFadden’s on Sunday! For you newbies, please come over and say hello, would love to hear your thoughts on NYCBBB.

***Please note, there have been some minor changes to the drink specials this season, the first changes we’ve made in several seasons. Look them over:

Also, being that its the 10th anniversary of 9/11 here in NYC feel free to wear your patriotic colors, which happen to share the red, white and blue of our Bills!

Lee Evans Traded, Pre-Season Games at McFadden’s

Hello all 1,895 NYC Bills Fans,

Well, the boring football-less spring and summer is over, the NFL & Players worked out a deal and a rushed training camp is in full swing. We’ll find out soon enough if the Bills got any better this offseason, however one player that was supposed to have an impact won’t be dressing up for us after all this season. It was just announced that Lee Evans has been traded to the Baltimore Ravens for a 4th round pick.

I’m not a fan of this, Evans had a poor season but was still the best receiver we had on the roster. Stevie Johnson is good but we’ll have to see if he can continue his success. As Matt Soreco commented just now, “the cycle of sucktitude continues” with a revolving door for our best players.

That said, we’ve been receiving a lot of emails about whether or not McFadden’s would be showing the Bills pre-season game this Saturday night against the Bears. Unfortunately, none of the Bills pre-season games will be carried live in NYC. Below is a schedule of when the games will be re-aired on NFL Network. With the exception of the Lions game, McFadden’s will show every game, so if you want to catch it this is when to head there. There won’t be any specific specials for the games, but its at least a way for you to see the team in action before the regular season.

Sunday 8/14 7:00 PM — Bills at Bears
Sunday 8/21 1:00 PM — Bills at Broncos
Monday 8/29 4:00 PM — Jaguars at Bills
Saturday 9/3 7:00 AM — Lions at Bills

Other than that, we’ll be reaching out closer to the regular season to update you on this year’s season with NYCBBB at McFadden’s & Calico Jack’s. Be sure to check out www.billsdaily.comwww.buffalorumblings.com andwww.deargodwhyussports.com for the latest news.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your summers, get your bodies ready for some serious beer & wing intake this fall!

Draft Party & Andre Reed Recap

Hello all 1,900+ NYC Bills fans,

Thanks to all of you who came out for the 10th Annual NYCBBB Draft Party at McFadden’s! I personally loved the draft the Bills had, Dareus is the guy I wanted for a couple weeks so was fired up with us picking him. My final email after the season said we either needed a franchise QB or the best run stuffer in the draft, and we got the latter! Also fired up that our team got bigger, stronger, and tougher.

Andre Reed was on hand for a good two hours and have to say I LOVED his OTM sauce! Was expecting a traditional hot sauce but it was actually a bbq sauce that was amazing. Andre has extended the following offer:

Also, here are the pictures of his visit featuring many of you:

And finally, here’s a video I took of him watching the Bills draft Dareus:

Be sure to check out www.deargodwhyussports.com which is a Buffalo sports blog with a humorous side. Its run by a bunch of long time regulars of the NYCBBB and NYC Sabres Backers, and they’re going to be doing some exciting stuff this coming season at the bars. The blog is growing in popularity and have done some podcasts with lately with Buffalo sports celebrities Also, follow them on twitter at @DGWUSports.

Well folks, that’s it. Now we go back to our normal lives until the owners & players get their heads out of their ends and realize the game is more important that they money. Once that happens, we’ll be in touch!

Go Bills!

Draft Party with Andre Reed Tonight!

Hello all 1,906 NYC Bills fans!

Before anything, put your coffee down and watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIOwxOOQmWw

That get you fired up? Reed had 3 touchdowns in that historic game!

The wait is finally over, the NFL Draft kicks off tonight and we’ll finally get to see who the Bills choose with their 3rd overall pick! The best part is that us NYC Bills fans will get to watch this pick with future Hall of Famer ANDRE REED! I don’t know about you, but I’m fired up! Actually, I DO know about you as my inbox was flooded last week with “Hell Yeahs!” of members that will attend. Its guaranteed to be an awesome night.

Again, here’s a link to the email that lists the specials that kickoff at 7pm:
https://nycbbb.com/2011-emails/draft-party-10-years-sabres-andre-reed/

Andre will be treating you to some wings with his Over the Middle Sauce and is more than happy to pose for photos and sign autographs. He’s honestly looking to just have a great time and your turnout will mean a TON to him. BE SURE TO WEAR BILLS CLOTHES so we know the real fans from the Thursday night regulars at the bar. I’m sure we’ll greatly outnumber them anyways!

I can’t believe this is our TENTH draft party, man what a wild ride this has been. For the first time in too long both Matt Soreco and I will be at McFadden’s tonight to celebrate this milestone with our fellow members of the New York City Bills community.

Be sure to follow the draft with www.billsdaily.com and www.buffalorumblings.com.

This is gonna be awesome, see you tonight! ANDRE REED BABY!!!!

Andre Reed Coming to McFadden’s!!!

Hello all 1,907 NYC Bills fans!

Was busy at work yesterday when I received a call from an unknown number. Answered it to find that Andre Reed himself was on the other end! He called to let us know that he will be attending the 10th Annual NYCBBB Draft Party at McFadden’s next Thursday night! He’s extremely excited about the trip as he gets to read the Bills 2nd Round Pick at the draft at Radio City on Friday night, so he said it was perfect that he’d get to watch the First Round with his fellow Bills fans. The future Hall of Famer can’t wait to hang out with us and just wants to have fun.

We’ll reach out next week with more details, Andre is shipping over some of his new Over The Middle All Purpose Sauce that McFadden’s has offered to throw on their wings for the party. You can learn about it here:

As of now he’s planning on coming when the specials start at 7pm and is staying for the draft that begins at 8pm. We had 200 of you show up to meet Marv Levy, so let’s show up in numbers to honor one of the greatest players to ever wear a Bills uniform! C’mon, its a Thursday during happy hour, is there anything cooler you could be doing? It might be the only football related event to meet up at for a long time!

Fired up, this is awesome!

Email me a “Hell Yeah!” if you’re coming!

By the way, I work for a marketing agency and we throw free tastings of different liquors/spirits/wines in Manhattan, with several coming up in the next two months including a single malt scotch, a cognac, and a premium tequila. If you’re interested in details, shoot me an email and I’ll send you over the info/invite. They’re a good time!

Draft Party, 10 YEARS!, Sabres, and Andre Reed

Hello all somewhere around 2,000 NYC area Bills & Sabres fans!

The first event NYCBBB ever held was a draft party at Bar Coastal on the Upper East Side, where around 20 Bills fans met up to watch the Bills select Mike Williams 4th overall. While talking to McFadden’s, I couldn’t believe it when I realized that was 10 YEARS ago. Could a decade have really gone by since then? We grew from one table of Bills fans in the McFadden’s dining room to filling two bars with hundreds of fans. We’ve hosted the likes of Marv Levy, Tim Russert, Lauren Belfer, NFL Films…the list goes on and on. One thing still awaits us, and that is the ability for us NYC Bills fans to gather on 42nd and 2nd to watch our team in the playoffs. Hopefully, the next step in that process is the upcoming NFL Draft.

With that said, we’d like to announce our 10th Annual Draft Party to take place on Thursday, April 28th at McFadden’s! The Bills hold the 3rd overall pick, and will wind hopefully up with an impact player. Cam Newton? Blaine Gabbert? Von Miller? Come join us to find out, here are the specials for the 3 days:

April 28 – Thursday – McFadden’s will have the first round of the Draft televised with sound starting at 7pm. From 7-11pm, the bar will offer $3 import drafts (including Blue), half priced drink specials, and free wings!

April 29 – Friday – Same special with wings from 7-11pm for rounds 2-3 and will have the sound on shortly before/after the Bills pick (keep in mind its Friday night)

Apr 30 – Saturday – All-you-can-drink/wing specials we use during the season from 11-4pm. The pricing can be found here: https://nycbbb.com/features/drink-specials-times/

We’ll see you there!

Andre Reed
It was announced that Andre Reed will be reading the Bills’ 2nd round selection on Friday night. I’m trying my best to reach Andre and tell him to join us on Thursday night to watch the Bills #1 pick with his fellow Buffalo Bills fans at McFadden’s. What would be great is for those of you with Twitter to tweet Andre and ask him to join us at McFadden’s, his handle is @Andre_Reed83 . He’s also promoting his new wing sauce, which we could throw on some wings at the party.

Sabres
The Sabres kick off their playoff march tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30pm. There are several bars around the city you can catch it, but McFadden’s WILL be televising ALL Sabres games during the playoffs! If enough of you turn out, we’ll talk to them about running some drink specials for the games. PEGULA PEGULA PEGULA!!!! GO SABRES!!!

That’s it for now, we’ll send another email closer to the draft with any more details we may have. I’m going, are you?

Matt “talkin proud and fired up that his wife has Sundays off from work now and can go to all the games at McFadden’s again!” Kabel

Offseason, New Lauren Belfer Novel

Hello all 1,880 NYC Bills fans!

First of all, thanks to all of you who supported the bars this season and made NYCBBB what it is!

Well, its over…its finally over. The bad news is that the Bills finished 4-12, have the worst run defense maybe in history, and still have a ways to go to be a contender. Ah, but the good news!

1) The Bills have a starter in Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB for 2011. True, he may not be the long term solution, but you can do a lot worse than The Professor who makes players around him better and somebody us fans can root for.

2) Steve Johnson is a solid #2 Wide Receiver. If he can avoid the drops, he could be a #1.

3) Kyle Williams aka The Meatball is a solid Nose Tackle. Bill Parcels just named him one of the top 2 NTs in the league. With some better players around him he could be a force for years to come and an anchor for the defense.

4) We have the #3 overall draft pick! My thoughts – do whatever it takes to trade up and take Stanford QB Andrew Luck. The guy can play, and we’d likely be set at QB for the next decade. If not, take the best run defender possible. Although as Buffalo Rumblings predicts (and is probably right) Buddy Nix takes the best player available (see Spiller) and we may end of with a WR or CB. Regardless, they need to nail this pick.

5) Finally, I have more faith in Nix/Gaily than I did in any of the coaches/front offices of the last decade. These are two older guys who know football, plain and simple and I think may actually know what they’re doing…but guess we’ll see.

Its going to be an interesting off-season, that’s for sure, and we’ll keep you updated with the latest news. For one last look at the season, check out Phil Mann’s parable on the 2010 Bills:
