Hello all 471 Bills fans!

Welcome to the 2003-04 NYCBBB Bills Season at McFadden’s! We’re working to improve on last year, in which we grew from 20 members to 450! It may take a game or two to kick the dust off our boots, as its been a long off-season.

McFadden’s has been very generous to give us such great drink and wing specials, so please do us a favor and remember to take care of your waitresses and tip them.

Being that this is the last email I’ll send before the game, there are lots of announcements, please take the time to read them!

Huge Signing!
Yesterday, the Bills signed 29 year old all-pro strong safety Lawyer Milloy, who was amazingly released by the Patriots two days ago. Milloy, who has been to the pro-bowl 4 of the last 5 years, will be on the field this Sunday against his old team, bringing major drama to the home opener!

McFadden’s!
Speaking of this weekend’s game, those who won’t be making the trip to Buffalo should join your fellow NYC Bills fans at McFadden’s! Here’s a little refresher:

Once in the door, you can enjoy one of these optional specials:

I spoke with Labatt Blue yesterday and next week for the Jacksonville game they will be handing out give-aways and will be working with us all season!

Golf Tourney in Miami

Anybody else leaving work early today?

Well, the Bills beat the Lions last night to finish the pre-season at 3-1. This weekend they trim the players down to the final roster, and next weekend its football season!!!!

Charlie the Butcher
Thanks to one of you fellow NYC Bills fans, I was able to contact Charlie the Butcher! He sent me his beef-on-weck recipe and will even be in town in November cutting meat at the Javits Center!! I’ll give you more details when I get them.

London
One place where I know there are Bills fans but there is nothing set up is London. Anybody have any die-hard Bills fans over there? I’d love to set something up for fans in the UK!

Sahlens Hot Dogs
I spoke with a representative at http://www.madeinbuffalo.com/ and they are going to give us a discount on anything we need from them, so the Sahlens Hot Dog Day at McFadden’s is a go! I’m still trying to figure out an effective way to do a beef-on-weck night! Any suggestions?

Bills Decorations
Please let me know if anybody will be making a trip to Western New York before the first game next weekend. I’d like to get some Bills supplies for the bar to make it feel more Buffalo-ish.

11 days!
Only 11 days until the Bills take the field for the 2003 Season!!! This means that for most of us, this is the last free weekend we will have, so enjoy it because I’m sure we’ll be hitting the pillow early on Saturday nights for the next few months to be fresh for game days! We are finalizing details for this season at McFadden’s, so if you have any suggestions please email them to me ASAP!!!

DC Backers
The Washington DC Backers we started at the new McFadden’s down there is off and running! Its only a few weeks old and we already have 85 email addresses!

Also, down in DC they have what’s called “Buffalo Nite in Washington” where all the Buffalonians get together at Capital Hill and they have guest of honor like Jack Kemp, Tim Russert…etc. and also bring in Charlie the Butcher and Sahlen hot dogs…etc. Here’s a link:

Everybody enjoy the blackout???

Very interesting last night in the city walking around. Almost like a tailgate party as people were all outside on their stoops with candles, drinking. The entire city must have an incredible hangover today. I had a bunch of buddies crash at my pad because they couldn’t get home…hence Blackout Party 2003! Walked around Manhattan at midnight with a golf club cuz who knew what it would be like, but it was funny how cool people were. When people would ask what I had a golf club for.. I’d say “just playing through, did you see my ball?” Very humorous night. Did everybody see Mars? If not, check it out tonight. Anyhow, we are still on for the Bill-Titans game tomorrow night at McFadden’s. Specials start at 6:30. Thanks to all of you that RSVP’d…I will see you then!

Hello all,

Well, this Saturday night at 8pm will be the first time most of us will get to see the 2003 Bills in action as they take on the Tennessee Titans! This will probably also be the only pre-season game that will be televised. I tried to go to the ESPN Zone Saturday night, but no football was on, and it was packed. Also, Times Square was filled with the “Moron Squad” (I’m going to stop right here in the middle of the sidewalk, not caring that I am blocking everybody’s way, just so I can take a picture of that big lit up sign!)

RSVP
Anyhow, the game at McFadden’s will be on at 8pm and the specials will start at 6:30 ending at the conclusion of the game. Due to it being a Saturday night, I am asking that people RSVP if they plan to show up or stop by, just so I can hold tables. Even if you are a maybe, please let me know by replying a “Hell Yeah!” to this email.

C’mon into the city, have some cheap drinks at McFadden’s, watch the Bills, then go out after…sounds like a great plan to me! Just check out these specials:

Directions and Wings
I never received more replies to an email than I did last week! MANY of you emailed me directions and recipes for wings. Almost all of you emailed the same directions, so there is in fact one superior route! We will post the directions on the web soon. We are still working on the recipe for wings and will have them perfected by the first game of the season!

Hello all,

I would like to apologize for the spam email you received from American Sports Media trying to sell you Bills Digest. We are not clear on how they got a hold of the email addresses of our NYC Bills Backers, and a stern email was sent to them stating that they did not have permission to have those email addresses nor send an email to them! Matt and I have gone to great lengths to ensure the privacy of our members, and are outraged about this. We have never, nor intend to, use the addresses for anything other than NYCBBB related information. We will look into legal action against those who abuse the list of addresses in the future.

That being said…on to fun stuff!

Wings
We are experimenting with different wing sauces to get that true Buffalo Wing taste. We are very close to perfecting it, but if anybody out there has a good recipe, please send it to us!

Save the Date
As I stated last week, McFadden’s will be televising the Bills-Titans pre-season game on August 16th at 8pm. There will be a booze/wing special. This will be a great warm up for the season, and also a great warm up for a great Saturday night out in Manhattan!

Directions
We’d like to get some official driving directions between Buffalo and Manhattan for our members. Please email me if you have directions that you think are the fastest between the Queen City and NYC!

Hello NYC Bills fans!

Okay, I was wrong, as MANY of you emailed me to tell me so! There is one Bills pre-season game that will be televised. The Bills-Tennessee game on August 16th at 8pm will be televised.

Here’s the deal: McFadden’s gets packed on Saturday nights, usually starting around 10pm. We could throw the game up on the big screen in the dining room area and offer a special of $25 for all the beer/wings from 7pm until the end of the game. We’d be able to have the sound on for most of the game, then McFadden’s will have to put music on for their night crowd. I’m all for doing this, so please email me if you’d be interested in watching the Bills in action at McFadden’s to get fired up for the season on Aug 16th!

Hello all 430 NYC Bills fans,

As many of you know, the 2003 Bills season begins TODAY with training camp at St. John Fisher! It’s been a long off-season, but the Bills have put together a team that will be a Super Bowl contender this season!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like any of the pre-season games will be televised live in NYC. However, one member said he could send us the taped games. Would anybody be interested in meeting up on the Sundays after the games at McFadden’s to watch the taped games and have some Labatt Blues and Buffalo Wings? PLEASE EMAIL ME IF THIS INTERESTS YOU, because we will only do it if we know people will show up!
