Sherry Ross at it again

Hello all 650 of you Bills fans!

Everybody enjoy that win last week? I think there may have been more Bills fans than Giants fans at the game. Most Giants fans left with 10 minutes to play in the 3RD QUARTER! Never seen anything more pathetic (other than that TNT Bills movie “Second String” on DVD in Wal-Mart last weekend) The Bills are now 2-0 when my girlfriend is in attendance…looks like I found a keeper!

Also, please email me if you are looking for Bills/Jets tickets for this weekend’s game.

OK…onto serious stuff….

Sherry Ross
Well, member Mike Jason just emailed me and showed be Sherry Ross’ new column, where she AGAIN takes shots at Buffalo.

Now, NYCBBB member Burt Flickinger wrote a great post on our message board and discussed it further with me at the game. I will provide a link to it in this email, and I ask you all to read it. Burt feels we should stop attacking Sherry Ross, and go right to the top. Mort Zuckerman is Owner & Publisher of the NY Daily News. I guess Mr. Zuckerman takes the content of his paper very seriously, and if readers pressure him, he WILL take action, possibly removing Ms. Ross from the NYDN Staff.

I’d like to start a writing campaign to Mort Zuckerman starting right now. Letters should be addressed to:

Mr. Mort Zuckerman
Owner & Publisher
New York Daily News
450 West 33rd Street
New York, NY 10001

Sherry Ross has now gone out of her way to trash our city three times. She’s making these statements from our turf, so its up to us Native Buffalonian ‘New Yorkers’ to shut her up.

Any questions or comments, please email me.

Hello 647 Bills fans…again!

One of our members, Kristen Schunke, contacted the NY Daily News and it turns out that Sherry Ross prints her email address in the paper but does not use it! So they sent Kristen her mailing address.

I know we are stuck in the email age, but why not print out your emails and send them to this address:

New York Giants and Turkey

Hello 647 of you Bills fans!

Just a reminder about the Bills/Giants game on this Turkey Day weekend! We will be meeting in parking lot 16-C on Sunday morning starting at 9am. Please bring your own beer and food. I will have a keg there for myself…..oh, and the people taking the bus in. My cell again is (917) 279-6798.

Jets/Bills
Please let me know if you are looking for tickets to the Jets game in Buffalo, I have a member looking to sell his season tickets for that game.

Sherry Ross
I rather enjoyed ALL of your letters to NY Daily News “reporter” Sherry Ross that you forwarded me this week! I think I may even ask Matt to put some of them up on the website. I know her email was down, so she either shut it off or was too much of a coward to print her real address. Please save those and keep trying….afterall, we Bills fans are patient!!!

As soon as I hit SEND on this email, I am rounding up the troops, popping in my Elvis Christmas CD, and decorating this office! Woke up to “Run Run Santa” this morning, how great is that? Now if I can only NOT screw up smoking the turkey for my girlfriend’s family tomorrow, life will be great!

Matt and I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

New York Giants

Hello all,

Well…SHIT-auqua…7 losses…let the firings begin!

NY Giants
Yeah, I know I’m a little behind on this one. NYCBBB will be tailgating next Sunday at the Meadowlands in Lot 16C as always for the Bills Giants game. I will try to get a keg there, but want to know how many people are attending. Can you please email me if you are attending? I think this will be a smaller crowd than the Jets, it being Thanksgiving weekend, but “Pinto Ron” emailed me and said he will be there with his bowling ball, as will many other Buffalonians making the trip from WNY. So if you’re coming, I recommend you bring your own tailgate stuff. There will be no party bus this time.

Article in the Daily News
If you haven’t seen it already, a hockey reporter for the NY Daily News took some low-blow shots at the City of Buffalo in yesterday’s paper. I have cut and pasted the article (very short):

“Hey Buffalo, get a life!

In a recent column, I praised Sabres management for wringing the most for its payroll dollar out of its value-priced team, and added that the team’s performance might make life in Buffalo less depressing.

That comment provoked a caustic response from the Buffalo News, the city’s best (and only) daily newspaper. In a story that was brought to my attention by a source who shall remain nameless (namely, Buffalo News sports columnist Bucky Gleason), I was described as “culturally challenged,” as well as being born and bred in New Jersey. How the publication found out where I was bred is a tad disturbing, but the crack investigative work only underscores why the Buffalo News remains the city’s best (and only) daily newspaper.

I never meant to insult Buffalo. Indeed, I salute Buffalo’s many virtues. Take its fine cuisine. Buffalo is famous for two delicacies. One is roast beef on weck, which is overcooked mystery meat served on what appears to be a soft pretzel left over from the Sabres’ last appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999. The other is Buffalo wings, which consist of completely meatless chicken bones (this might be what goes into the roast beef on weck) that are coated in batter, fried and bathed in spices so hot you need to run outside and stick your head in a snowbank. Buffalo provides many of these year-round as a public service.

Forgive me, Buffalo. I solemnly vow that the next time I am forced to travel there on assignment, I will happily spend as much time and money as possible in your vibrant downtown. As soon as you build one.”

OK folks, please let me know if you are attending the Giants game ASAP!!!

Indianapolis Colts

Hello all!

Well, I am not employed by our Buffalo Bills, so I’m going to speak my mind. This team is a disgrace to the City of Buffalo. The defense is one of the best in the league, yet the offense disgusts me. In my opinion, the coaches should be gone, if not now then at the end of the season. Upgrades will be needed on offense as Ralph Wilson said on record after the last game. Looks like we’ll have to bite down on something til the season is over, maybe Kevin Gilbride’s head!

I’m not saying its over, and those that have been on our email list since last year know I’ll go down fighting. The Bills take on the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at 1pm. You gotta try a beef-on-weck too, I saw people eating them and they looked great!! I’m going to try one on Sunday!

Billsdaily.com
One of our members, Steve Saslow, runs a great webpage with Bills news. I’d like to welcome Steve as he joins us this weekend for the game. Be sure to check out his sitewww.billsdaily.com

Bills Documentary
Yup, I dropped the ball for the team last weekend. I forgot to bring the tape of the ESPN Buffalo Bills documentary. I will do my best to remember it this weekend and show it before the Indy game!!!

Sabres
Wow…a LOT of you want to do the Sabres/Rangers game! We only got 2-3 replies last year…this year I got almost 20! Looks like there is a game on Friday, January 30th. How does that sound?

Joe Mesi
Well, I’ve been playing phone tag with heavyweight boxer Joe Mesi’s people. They would love to have us at the December 6th fight at Madison Square Garden. As soon as I reach them, I’ll let you know! If you are interested in attending this fight (Tix as low as $30) let me know, I think I’ll be going.

NY Giants
Well, I am having almost no luck finding tickets to the Bills/Giants game as I expected. If I hear anything I will let you know.

Ahh….they are decorating the trees around here for the holidays. I will be decorating my office in less than a week! I bought a new smoker, (you fellow Buffalonian hics should know what that is!) so smoking turkeys and other food has been my relaxer after these debacle Bills games! Anybody have any good recipes out there? I’m smoking turkeys for my girlfriend’s family on Thanksgiving, what are the chances of me screwing this up? Imagine?

Houston Texans

Howdy all!

How ya’ll doing today partners? (is this how Texans speak?) The Texans will be riding their stallions into Ralph Wilson Stadium (which lost power in the wind/snow storm yesterday!) this weekend. They are a tough up-and-coming-team who always put up a fight, but the Bills are a solid team at home, so look for a Buffalo victory!! The Bills are still VERY much in this playoff race!

The game starts at one and we will be at McFadden’s as always pounding Labatt Blue and eating wings. I tried the beef-on-weck last weekend and it needs a little work, which will hopefully be perfected by this weekend so try one and let me know what you think! You can order one from any waitress or bartender.

CBS Sports
Many of you emailed me and were asking if the special they filmed will be on this weekend. I called the producer and he said that it will 100% be on at Christmas time and Mac Bledsoe will call to give us a heads up. Yeah, I know, I’m excited too!

Buffalo Bills Documentary
Member Vito Rinaldo and his young son Gavin were nice enough to bring me that ESPN documentary on the Buffalo Bills. We will be showing it this weekend before the game. I believe its 30 minutes long so we will start it at 12:30. Be there if you want to see it.

Charlie the Butcher
I almost died laughing this morning. I looked in my bag that I bring to McFadden’s and remembered that Charlie the Butcher brought Matt and I t-shirts. The front has a red tie on it with a pocket that says “WHAT THE HECK IS WECK?” and on the back is a big picture of Charlie! Isn’t that a great shirt??? It is a living legend and one day when I’m 50, bald, and fat I’ll be wearing it and somebody will stop me and say, “Wow…that’s a GREAT shirt!”

Giants Game
OK….Giants tickets are VERY hard to get…but I will do my best to look around. Please email me if you are looking to buy tickets to the November 30th Bills/Giants game. For this one you may have to buy above face value. Of course, we’re all New Yorkers now, this isn’t news to us.

Sabres
Anybody notice that the Sabres are looking pretty good this year??? If anybody is interested in going to a game here in NYC (Rangers), please shoot me an email.

Holidays
For all of you Christmas/holiday lovers out there like me, you’ll be glad to know that I woke up to a random station this morning that is playing non-stop holiday music!! Tune to 102.7!! My day can only go down from here….

ITS SNOWING IN BUFFALO!!!

Bledsoe Ball

Hello all 625 Bills fans!

Everybody have fun yesterday despite that awful offensive showing? Did everybody get a chance to be on the CBS Sports camera? An estimated 425 of you showed up and PACKED the bar from one end to the other!

Well, we raised $1,015 for the Drew Bledsoe Foundation! Thanks to all who bought raffle tickets. As most of you know, Doug Moore (a McFadden’s owner who is the one who got NYCBBB into McFadden’s and bought a TON of tickets), won the ball. Doug is donating the ball to NYCBBB and will have it displayed in the bar for us.

To clarify things, Doug won the ball but we wanted to have a Bills fan filmed receiving the ball on camera. I picked another ticket and called the person’s name. The guy who took the ball turned out to be a COWBOY fan and lied about who he was. I couldn’t see a thing with the camera lights shining in my eyes and couldn’t hear anything up there either. A few Bills fans told me this after the lights went off and I ran out the side door to look for him. Member Jay Newman grabbed me and showed me where he was and I saw him trying to sneak out the back door with the ball wrapped in his coat. Needless to say, I snatched the ball back from him and we selected yet ANOTHER ticket which turned out to be the Tenzer brothers (who INDEED are Bills fans) to represent us in receiving the ball. Bills fans raised over $1,000 for charity, a Cowboys fan tried to steal the ball. I knew a lot of the past Cowboys had no class, but didn’t know their fans were the same way!

Wasn’t that great when Charlie the Butcher showed up??? In uniform and everything! He is meeting with Bills staff this week and is going to tell them all about us! He was VERY excited to see what we had going here in NYC.

OK…off to do work and be depressed all week due to the Bills offensive debacle. Thanks again to all of you to donating money for this worthwhile cause!

For those of you who made their first trip to McFadden’s yesterday, tell me what you thought!

One more reminder!

Hello all 615 of you,

Quick email. I actually enjoyed the opera…go figure? Wow, there really is good culture beyond beer, football, and wings!

Did anybody tape the ESPN special on Buffalo the other night? Yeah…I dropped the ball on that one. Let me know if anybody has it.

This weekend’s game against the Cowboys is NOT nationally televised, I just received the official list of NYC televised games from a buddy at the NFL. I had McFadden’s put on plenty of extra staff, so come on down and watch the game with hundreds of fellow Bills fans, drink some Labatt Blue, have a Sahlens hot dog, have a beef-on-weck, have some buffalo wings, buy a raffle ticket, say hello to Charlie the Butcher, and oh yeah…BE ON NATIONAL TV!!!

I’m enjoying reading emails from all of you that have never been to McFadden’s and are making yoru first trip this weekend. This should be one hell of a Buffalo Party!!!!

Go Bills!!!!

— Matt “talkin proud and rather enjoyed the Mikado” Kabel

Dallas Cowboys are going down!

Hello all 618 Bills fans!

Yup big opera event tonight….kill me….please kill me…

Anyway…ONTO THE BILLS!!! They’re 4-4, VERY much into the playoff race, coming off a bye week, and #1 draft choice Willis McGahee was activated yesterday!!!

HAHAHA!! As I was writing this, the producer called from CBS! He encourages people to wear their NYCBBB shirts and Drew Bledsoe jerseys. A cameraman will be there for most of the game. McFadden’s will also have a microphone system there for us to raffle off the ball at halftime. If you bought a ticket two weeks ago, I suggest being there, as the winner will be on national TV receiving the ball. That’s also added incentive to buy tickets and help a worthy cause!

Matt and I will be at our usual booth at the bar by the bathrooms. Please stop by and purchase your tickets there. 1 for $5, 3 for $10, 5 for $15.

Special
The usual specials will run from 2:00 until the end of the game. If you want a table I suggest getting there at least an hour before the game.

Beef-on-weck
Charlie the Butcher is dropping of some ingredients and McFadden’s is picking up the rest. We’re going to start small with week with a 100 sandwiches or so to try it out. If you want one, I suggest ordering one when you get there. Not sure what the price will be just yet. If we sell out…hey…get a Sahlens hot dog instead!!!

Charlie will be carving Beef on Weck at the Alto-Shaam Booth at the Javits Center for the International Hotel/Motel & restaurant Show Nov. 8-11 from 10am-5pm. If you have time, swing by and see him!

Matt needs a new job
Our fellow leader, Matt Soreco, is looking for a new job. He has web designing experience at a non for profit organization. If you are looking for a new employee who is a Bills fan and a natural born leader with web/email skills…shoot him an e-mail.

Extra Staff
I spoke with McFadden’s yesterday, and they are going to have on 3 bartenders and other extra staff. Don’t worry, the beer will be flowing!

Thanks!
Thanks to all of you who have emailed me and said you will be there on Sunday. Special thanks to all you procrastinators that are coming for the first time, I assure you that we’ll have a blast!!!

LETS GO BUFFALO!!!

Any Buffalo Bills fans want to be on TV?

Hello all 615 Bills fans!

VERY quick email, I have a huge opera benefit (yeah, I did say OPERA) for the hospital tomorrow so I am swamped!

My alarm went off this morning, I shut it off. My phone rang right after, I picked it up. Yup, Mac Bledsoe on the other end calling me from the airport to tell me that CBS Sports WILL be there THIS Sunday filming us for the special they are doing on the Drew Bledsoe Foundation! The producer will be calling me later today to discuss details.

What I need from you:
I want to pack McFadden’s! The game is this Sunday at 4:15.

Regulars – I expect to see you there as always
1/2 Regulars – I expect to see you there
People who have been there once or twice – I want to see you there
Procrastinators that have never been – C’mon!! Isn’t being on national TV reason enough to make it???

Lets show America what the NYC Bills fans are all about!!!! We’re 4-4…lots of games to play!!

Oh…and wearing a Drew Bledsoe jersey would be good!!!

OK…back to work for me! Talk to you guys tomorrow…
