Draft Party & Buffalo Lockjaw/Sabres Event

Hello all 1,912 NYC Bills fans!

Its been pretty quiet at One Bills Drive since the Bills signed Terrell Owens. ESPN would like everybody to think the main story is T.O. not showing up to voluntary workouts, but the real story is will the Bills cave in to Pro Bowler Jason Peters’ contract demands? After holding out the entire 2008 off-season and giving up 11.5 sacks (most of any starting left tackle) Peters is looking to become the highest paid tackle in the league, and apparently wants $12 million a year. Some say he’s worth it, some say not, and some say he’s just trying to get traded. Personally, I don’t think he deserves that much and also think he is looking to be traded.

So between now and the end of the NFL Draft, we’ll see if the Bills show STRENGTH by signing him for less money or at least getting a first round draft choice in a trade, or if they show WEAKNESS by giving him what he wants or getting a 2nd rounder or less in a trade. On top of all of that, Jay Cutler is on the trading block with several teams interested. What does that have to do with the Bills? I doubt they have interest, but it could throw the entire draft out of whack, making for an exciting NYCBBB Draft Party!

NYCBBB’s EIGHTH Annual Draft Party will be held on Saturday, April 25th at McFadden’s. Like last year, the draft begins at 3pm and McFadden’s will run the following specials from 1-8pm:

$35 – All the draft beer you can drink and wings you can eat
$25 – All the Bud/Bud Lite draft you can drink and wings you can eat
$20 – All the pop you can drink and wings you can eat
$1 off all mixed drinks

As always, the party is open to all football fans, and we always pack the bar for the entire afternoon. Be sure to check NYCBBB’s official news source www.BillsDaily.comfor all the latest Bills/draft updates!

My wife is due with our 2nd son on April 24th, what are the odds I’ll be watching from a hospital room?

NYCBBB would also like to announce our new partnership with the Bills blogwww.BuffaloRumblings.com. The blog, run by Bills fans, offers great insider knowledge you won’t find anywhere else, and has several articles every day from a variety of staff members providing unique views on the team. They are the official Bills blog of NYCBBB. You can also find their link at nycbbb.com.

Buffalo Lockjaw
Brooklyn resident, Buffalo native, author and lifelong Bills fan Greg Ames is launching his debut novel titled Buffalo Lockjaw. The novel tells the story of James Fitzroy, a man who grew up in Buffalo and couldn’t wait to flee the city he has a love/hate relationship with for a new life in Brooklyn. James’s mother is suffering from Alzheimer’s, and he drives home for Thanksgiving with a copy of Assisted Suicide for Dummies in the passenger seat. Over that fateful holiday, James reconnects with boozing high school friends, his father and his sister, and the town of Buffalo. As his mother’s condition worsens, James’s subtle allusions to assisted suicide are brushed off by his father and sister, and family tensions are tangible.

The book sounds amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It can be purchased through our online store at http://astore.amazon.com/newyorcitbufb-20. Or you can potentially get a FREE COPY by coming to McFadden’s on April 8th for the novel’s launch where you can watch the Sabres take on the Maple Leafs as they make their run for the playoffs. The bar will be serving $3 drafts and will be giving away free copies of Buffalo Lockjaw! If you can’t make the event, Greg will be doing signings at Barnes and Nobles in Park Slope and Buffalo, as well as many other locations promoting the book. Check out the website for more details www.buffalolockjaw.com.
